Feral Cat or Scared Cat?
Feral Cat or Scared Cat?
It's not hard to tell what is going in Rocky's little cat mind since it is written all over the expression on his face and whiskers. He's scared. Sometimes you can tell he is affectionate, but at other times fear takes over. He was always like this. I have had him 5 weeks so far and he has been living at a foster for almost a year before I got him. This cat was originally rescued at about 3 months old, along with his three brothers. They were all very shy, scared cats and afraid of any contact with people but Rocky-Caesar is the most shy or scared of people. I guess you would have to look at it from the cats perspective, since we must be giants compared to cats, so naturally they feel threatened. But some cats feel more threatened than other just by their inner nature. I suspect Rocky-Caesar and his 3 brothers were born from a feral mother cat versus a domesticated cat and that is the difference. But I do think eventually he will come around after a very long period of time. You can never rush a cat and they have to get accustomed to things at their own pace.
The way to a cat's heart and affection is through good food.
